Love Bazaar

Valentine's Day is right around the corner! So between my day job and getting my portfolio upgraded for potential grad school interviews, I am also prepping for the Love Bazaar on Feb 6-7. Drop in for handmade local gifts for your Valentine!  Or, better yet, if you are singkelike me, Treat Yo 'Self!

Girl Power

A few months ago, through the power of Twitter, I was put in touch with Hilary from the Girl Museum, a website dedicated to inspiring young girls and women in a variety of ways.  They were working on an exhibit about STEAM fields (STEM + Arts) and Hilary was looking for a conservator to interview.  I offered to help and this was the result:

Productivity!

I consider myself a pretty lazy crafter. I started my business making prints because they are reproducible, ergo -- less work for me!  I also stuck with a limited color palette for the exact same reason.  But when a productive mood strikes, you better believe I take full advantage of it. Here is the photographic evidence to back that up:

This represents the aftermath of a night of printing. I decided to print all of the cards I would need for the Handmade Omaha Holiday Sale in one go.  I put on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and printed away.  I live in a small one-bedroom apartment, so it doesn't leave a lot of room for drying ink.  I just put them down wherever there is room. And then I collapsed in bed and left it for the next night.

Last night, I stamped the back of each card with my logo and then I put each card and envelope in a clear plastic sleeve. Everything got sorted and put away and I was left with the clean living room you see above.  I still need to wash my printing blocks and brayers, but I think I can take a night off from that.

I've still got over a month before the sale, but it feels good to be ahead.  Now I just need to design, carve, and print some larger prints, and I'll be good to go!

Handmade Omaha

I'll be one of the vendors at the Handmade Omaha Winter Art & Craft Bazaar for Small Business Saturday and, as I like to call it, Black Sabbath.  Stop By, Say Hello, and Shop Local!

Beginning Again

I've had several blogs over the years.  Travel blogs, thrifting/craft blogs, random thoughts of a twenty-something blog.  This one will likely be a combination of all three.  I am currently working to expand my little craft business into wholesale.  So there will be crafty updates to come.  At the same time I am working on applying to graduate school in Art Conservation.  As that goes forward, there will be updates on that process as well as, I hope, my life in graduate school and beyond.  And now that I'm beyond my 20s (only a little), there will probably be random thoughts from a thirty-something.  Check back often to see what's up.  I'll try to do my part to make it interesting.
